A dog has been put down after two people were injured at a ferry terminal in Shetland.

Police confirmed a dog was euthanised after officers, the dog warden and a vet were called to the scene to secure the animal at Lerwick ferry terminal after 8.15am on Thursday.

Officers said there were no reports of serious injuries and that enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Inspector Sam Greshon said: “Around 8.15am on Thursday, August 31, 2024 we were called to a report of a dog having injured two people at Lerwick Ferry Terminal, Esplanade.

“Officers, the dog warden and a veterinarian attended to secure the animal.

“It was euthanised a short time later.

“There were no reports of serious injuries. Enquiries are ongoing.

“I would like to thank partner agencies for their support during this incident.”
