A team of specialists have made their way to Shetland to assess a device found near Lerwick Town Hall.
Emergency services first received reports of a “possible ordnance device” at around 6pm on Friday.
The suspicious device was found at the rear of Lerwick Town Hall.
Several streets around the building have been sealed off with police advising people to stay away from John Jamieson Close, Hillhead, Charlotte Street and Hill Lane.
Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) have been called to assess the device, which is now believed to be historic and non-suspicious.
