The death of a diver whose body was discovered weeks after he failed to return to a boat off Orkney is to be investigated.
The Marine Accident Investigation Branch (MAIB) are probing the incident which resulted in the death of Paul Smith in September after he was struck underwater by a passing support vessel, the MV Karin.
The 70-year-old, from Greater Manchester, disappeared while on a dive near the wreck of the scuttled German battleship SMS Markgraf on September 28.
However, his body was not recovered until more than two weeks later on October 16 near to the island of Cava.
MAIB say they have now opened a probe into the incident.
It is unclear when the findings will be published.
