A cyclist has died in hospital following a crash with a car on a rural road in the Highlands.

Jane Davey was taken to hospital following the collision near Mains of Bunachton, in Dunlichity, just before 1pm on Monday, January 30.

The 59-year-old cyclist was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, where she was pronounced dead on Tuesday.

The occupants of the Dacia Sandero car were uninjured in the incident.

Road policing sergeant Calum MacAulay said: “Our thoughts are with Jane’s family and friends at this difficult time and our enquiries continue into the crash.

“Despite happening in a rural location, we’d ask anyone with relevant dash-cam footage, or who saw what happened, to get in contact with officers.”
