A medical ward at Western Isles Hospital in Stornoway has been closed to new adult admissions after being linked to a Covid-19 outbreak.
NHS Western Isles said the area will be shut until further notice, with exceptions only for paediatric patients and those requiring admission to the High Dependency Unit.
Visiting restrictions have been introduced for Medical Ward 1 with only one designated visitor permitted for one visit a day for each patient.
Visitors are urged to book in advance and wear face masks inside the hospital.
The health board said it has set up an incident management team to prevent further spread of coronavirus.
People are urged not to visit “under any circumstances” if they develop symptoms.
