Western Isles Council has issued a warning following reports of door-to-door traders operating on Lewis.

Comhairle na Eilean Siar’s Trading Standards team is urging those across the islands to keep an eye on elderly and vulnerable neighbours and relatives.

Free ‘no doorstep sellers’ signs are available from council offices for those who want them.

Jay Moran, from Trading Standards, said: “Often the goods or the work door-to-door sellers provide can be of poor quality and the price charged can be very high.

“Callers may not always be what they seem and we would ask that residents look out for elderly and vulnerable neighbours and relatives.”

If you are concerned about doorstep sellers, call Trading Standards on 01851 822694 or Police Scotland on 101.
