A CalMac ferry has been pulled from service after the vessel developed a fault with its firefighting system.
Sailings between Skye, North Uist and Harris have been disrupted after the MV Hebrides was taken off the route.
The boat, which previously underwent repair work in May after striking a pier on Uist, has since sailed to Ullapool to undergo remediation work.
Several routes between the ports of Uig, Lochmaddy and Tarbert have been cancelled or subjected to severe delays as a result.
Services on Tuesday were cancelled while passengers embarking on an additional crossing between Lochboisdale and Armadale on Wednesday were warned they may face capacity issues.
A CalMac statement read: “Due to an issue with the vessel’s firefighting system, MV Hebrides has been removed from service and will reposition to Ullapool to undergo repairs.
“Disrupting a sailing is a decision we do not take lightly because we know it will inconvenience our customers and the communities we serve. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
