Staff at a ski resort which saw its main building devastated by a Christmas Day blaze have insisted it will be “business as usual” despite the huge setback.
Insurers were assessing the scale of the damage at Glencoe Mountain resort on Friday, however operators claim they’re confident the resort will recover from the incident.
The blaze, thought to have started in the kitchen, destroyed most of the building on Wednesday morning.
Eight fire appliances were called to the scene – they drew on water from a local burn to put the fire out. The full extent of the damage has yet to be calculated.
Despite the damage, workers were operating from a makeshift ticket office on Friday and loyal visitors were still keen to take to the slopes.

Managing director of the resort, Andy Meldrum said: “It’s a huge blow but the good news is that the ski infrastructures aren’t affected, our accommodations aren’t affected and we can still keep operating.
“The loss adjusters are coming this afternoon and we’ll have a better idea where we can go but our hope is that we can get temporary accommodation in for our ticket office and a temporary cafe on-site as soon as possible – because without the cafe it’s pretty isolated accommodation we’ve got here so we really need to be able to provide food and drink in the evening for people.
“Our customers have been incredibly supportive and I think some of them have actually just turned up today to show a bit of support which is amazing.”
