A sheep dubbed Britain’s loneliest has given birth for the first time.

Fiona became an internet sensation after she was spotted standing on a cliff near Brora, in Sutherland, by a local kayaker in 2021.

A petition calling for her rescue subsequently gained more than 50,000 signatures, prompting a group with climbing expertise to hatch a plan to bring her to dry land.

After being securely evacuated from the cliff, Fiona was taken to Dalscone Farm in Dumfries, where she has been looked after since.

Once well enough, a decision was made to allow Fiona to start a family of her own.

She has now welcomed twins and is adjusting to life a little less lonely.

Announcing the news, Dalscone Farm said: “We are beyond thrilled to introduce Fiona’s two newest arrivals, born just last night.

“Fiona has officially traded her title for ‘World’s Best Mum’, and she is taking to her new role amazingly well.

“We couldn’t be prouder of her and these two healthy little lambs. Welcome to the world, little ones!”
