A boy has died following a crash in the Highlands that left two teenagers with life-threatening injuries and a third seriously injured.

Edward Bush and two girls, all 16, were struck by a white Audi Q3 on the A82 at Kirkton, near Lochend, at around 4.20pm on Thursday.

The trio were taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness, where Edward later died.

The teen, from Henley on Thames in Oxfordshire, was described as a “truly outstanding young man”.

In a statement released through Police Scotland on Saturday, his family said: “Edward will be missed so much by so many, as he was a truly outstanding young man with such an incredible and bright future ahead of him.

“He will never be forgotten and will remain eternally loved and adored by his brothers, parents, family, and friends.”

One of the teenage girls also suffered life-threatening injuries and was transferred to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, where she remains in a critical condition.

The other girl, who was seriously injured, has since been discharged.

Road policing sergeant Angus Macleod said: “Our enquiries into this fatal crash are ongoing and it’s important we establish exactly what happened.

“I would urge anyone who may have witnessed the crash but has not yet spoken to police to come forward.

“I am particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have dashcam footage which could help with our investigation.”
