A teenage boy has been charged in connection with an alleged attempted murder after a car was deliberately driven at a police officer in Inverness.

Officers were carrying out foot patrols on High Street around 12.35am on Saturday, March 10, when they attempted to stop a grey Subaru Outback.

The driver, a 16-year-old youth, allegedly failed to stop and the car was deliberately driven at one of the officers who was forced to take evasion action.

The officer was uninjured in the incident.

A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “A 16-year-old male youth has been arrested and charged in connection with attempted murder after a car was deliberately driven at a police officer on High Street in Inverness on Sunday, March 10.

“Around 12.35am officers carrying out patrols on foot attempted to stop a grey Subaru Outback. The vehicle failed to stop and was deliberately driven at one of the officers.

“The officer took evasive action to avoid the vehicle and was uninjured.

“The youth will be reported to the Procurator Fiscal in connection with the incident.”
