Google MapsA team of specialists are heading to Shetland following reports that a suspicious item was found near Lerwick Town Hall.
Emergency services first received reports of a “possible ordnance device” at around 6pm on Friday.
The suspicious device was found at the rear of Lerwick Town Hall.
Several streets around the building have been sealed off by police, who have confirmed that Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) are heading to Shetland to assess the device.
Police are advising people to stay away from John Jamieson Close, Hillhead, Charlotte Street and Hill Lane.
