Police searching for a pensioner missing for more than two months have found a body.
Officers have informed the family of James Brannan, 72, about the discovery near a golf course in Aviemore on Friday afternoon.
Formal identification of the body has yet to take place.
Mr Brannan disappeared in early February and was reported missing three days later.
He was last seen walking near the clubhouse at the Macdonald Spey Valley Resort in Aviemore on Saturday, February 5.
Extensive searches – involving a coastguard helicopter, local mountain rescue teams and river patrols – took place over the next few days.
Mr Brannan, who was originally from the Baillieston area of Glasgow, was a regular visitor to the golf and country club.
He had been watching a Six Nations rugby match at the clubhouse before his disappearance.
A spokesperson for Police Scotland said: “Police in the Highlands can confirm that the body of a man has been found near Spey Valley Golf Course in Aviemore around 2.30pm on Friday, 8 April, 2022.
“Formal identification has yet to take place, but the family of 72-year-old James Brannan reported missing on Tuesday, 8 February, has been made aware.
“The death is not believed to be suspicious. A report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
