The body of a man has been found after a hillwalker failed to return from a hike in the Scottish mountains on Saturday.

Richard Dawson was reported missing after he went for a planned walk of the Five Sisters of Kintail in the Highlands.

The 61-year-old’s car was found in Glen Shiel, and he did not arrive at his booked hotel accommodation. A body was discovered in the area below the ridge of the Five Sisters of Kintail around 4pm on Monday.

It was recovered with the assistance of the HM Coastguard helicopter and Kintail Mountain Rescue Team.

The body is yet to be formally identified, however, Richard Dawson’s family has been informed.

Investigators believe there are no apparent suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.
