A body has been found in Loch Ness in the search for a missing Chinese woman believed to have travelled to the Highlands after disappearing from Bath.

Bilin Chen was last spotted on the Great Glen Way between Drumnadrochit and Urquhart Castle at around 8pm on Friday last week.

The 26-year-old, a Chinese national, had been reported missing from Bath, in Somerset, England, on Thursday, May 26, and police said she travelled to Scotland on the same day.

At around 1.45pm on Wednesday, June 1, a woman’s body was discovered in Loch Ness, near the A831 Road at Drumnadrochit.

No formal identification has taken place, however police believe it to be Ms Chen and said officers had been liaising with her family.

Police said there did not appear to be any suspicious circumstances surrounding the death and a report would be forwarded to the Procurator Fiscal.
