A body has been found during the search for a missing hillwalker who disappeared after setting off to climb a Munro in the Highlands.

Ian Myles was last seen at around 9am on Thursday and was believed to be enroute to climb Bidean Nam Bian in the Glencoe area.

An urgent missing appeal was launched after the 77-year-old failed to return more than 24 hours after setting off.

Police confirmed that the body of a man was discovered at around 11am on Friday and the family of Ian Myles have been informed.

Formal identification of the individual is yet to take place. Police believe there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death.

A spokesperson from the force said: “Around 11am on Friday, September 6 2024, the body of a man was found in Glencoe.

“Formal identification is yet to take place but the family of 77-year-old missing man Ian Myles has been informed.

“There do not appear to be any suspicious circumstances and a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
