A pregnant mum who got contractions at Belladrum Festival returned to the camp site the day after giving birth to a baby boy.

A family attending the Tartan Heart music event last week arrived on Thursday afternoon to pitch up their tent when mum Kate started to feel contractions.

The parents, attending with two toddlers aged four and two, took a walk around the festival and get some food before making the decision to go to hospital after 5.30pm.

The mum gave birth a mere two hours later to baby Callan and returned to the festival in Kiltarlity near Inverness on Friday morning.

The festival shared partner Darren’s story on social media, saying: “We arrived on site to Pitch Village around 2pm on Thursday.

“Our party consisted of my partner who was 38 weeks pregnant and our two toddlers aged four and two.

“Around 4:00pm on Thursday, Kate (my partner) started to feel “contractions” whilst we were setting up our tent. We decided to go for a walk to the arena to get some food.

“At 5:30pm thinking nothing of it, I appeared back to Kate and the kids who were chilling on a bale, with a pint of Black Isle Brewery blonde.

“Kate suddenly told me I wasn’t taking her seriously and that she didn’t think she would make it. At 5:30pm we left the festival to drive to the hospital.

“We quickly dropped the kids to Granny in Inverness, and thanks to the fantastic traffic management we arrived at Raigmore Hospital for 6:30pm.

“Kate was examined by the midwife and swiftly moved to the labour ward where she gave birth to baby Callan at 7.36pm.

“Kate and baby were well and determined to make the most of the weekend, and Kate wanted to return to the festival. We were back on site, with baby at 11:30am on Friday.

“We enjoyed the rest of our weekend, albeit Kate didn’t camp obviously. I managed to stay in the tent with the kids while Kate went home to Muir of Ord with the baby before returning again Saturday morning.

“We were all a bit shell-shocked by Monday and it’s still hard to believe the whirlwind, but thanks to the amazing nature and spirit of the festival we were comfortable knowing we could come back to enjoy it, even with a baby less than 24 hours old.

“Not sure if it’s your youngest ever attendee, but it must be close!

“Thanks again for an amazing weekend, see you next year.”

The festival added: “Wow! We think this might take the award for ‘youngest ever Belladrum attendee’

“Welcome to the Bella family, little one and congratulations from all of us.”
