An Arctic Circle walrus has been spotted in Shetland after travelling hundreds of miles via the Netherlands and Germany.

The animal nicknamed Freya has a distinctive pink spot on her nose that means she has been able to be identified.

Last month, the creature was spotted in Northumberland stocking up on fish and recovering from injuries in the first Walrus sighting in the area for potentially hundreds of years.

Ben Dalgleish, a Shetland based wildlife photographer, spotted Freya and posted on Twitter that she was an “amazing animal”.
