Man seriously injured in hospital after car careers off road in crash

A man was taken to hospital after being seriously injured in a crash on the Isle of Skye.

Emergency services were called to the A87 at Varigill, south of Portree, at around 1.35pm on Thursday following reports that a blue Suzuki Swift car had left the road.

A 27-year-old man was taken to Raigmore Hospital, where he remains with serious injuries.

The road was closed for around six hours as officers carried out collision investigation work.

Enquiries into the crash are continuing and any witnesses have been asked to come forward.

Sergeant Neil MacDonald, from the Highland and Islands Road Policing Unit, said: “We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the crash or saw the Suzuki Swift traveling on the A87 prior to the incident to please get in touch.

“We are also keen to speak with motorists who may have dashcam footage from the area around the time in question.

“If you believe you can assist our enquiries, please call 101, quoting incident 1602 of March 24.”
