A castle estate in the Outer Hebrides is calling for a gamekeeper and housekeeper to take up residence, surrounded by “dramatic and pristine” wilderness.
Amhinnsuidhe Castle Estate on the Isle of Harris is a mixed sporting estate offering salmon and sea trout fishing, red deer stalking and rough shooting.
The estate has urged couples, who can take up residence at a three-bedroom house on site, to apply for the unique positions.
The accommodation will have utilities included, kennels and a work vehicle as well as “very attractive remunerative package”.
The successful head gamekeeper will have responsibility for annual red deer culls on the site as well as open hill stalking.
They will process deer from fields to deliveries of the estate’s venison boxes in a purpose-built venison butchery unit.
As well as handling deer, they will record all fish catches and cull and carry out vermin control.
The head gamekeeper will also have responsibility for working with guests staying at the estate regarding fishing, stalking and shooting, advertising and hiring of seasonal ghillies.
The advert states: “The successful candidate will be a self-motivated, honest, enthusiastic individual who has high standards and very good communication skills with the ability to manage a team and report effectively to the estate manager.”
Meanwhile Amhuinnsuidhe Castle are looking for an experienced head housekeeper to oversee the daily running of the castle and surrounding self-catering cottages.
The castle offers a five-star fully catered service for seven nights during the sporting season from July to October.
The estate offers space for up to 18 guests in 12 bedrooms in addition to three self-catering properties in the Amhuinnsuidhe village ,which are let out on a weekly basis.
The head housekeeper is required to have “very high standards” as well as team management skills.
