Two people are in hospital and a stretch of the A9 has been closed in both directions after a “serious accident” on the road.
Emergency services were called to the collision on Tuesday morning around 11am near Delny by Invergordon.
Two ambulances, an air ambulance and multiple resources were dispatched to the scene. Two people have been taken to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.
Their current condition is unknown.
Diversions have been put in place at Alness and Kildary and drivers are urged to avoid the area if possible.
A Police Scotland statement read: “We are currently dealing with a serious traffic accident on the A9 near Delny by Invergordon.
“Please avoid this section of road if you can. Diversions are in place at Alness and Kildary.”
A Scottish Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We received a call at 10.26am to attend an incident on the A9, near Invergordon Junction.
“Two ambulances, an air ambulance and multiple resources were dispatched to the scene. Two patients were transported to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.”
