A motorist died four days after taking ill behind the wheel, swerving off the A9 and landing in a ditch.

Robert McLachlan, 57, was taken to Raigmore Hospital following the incident south of Kincraig on February 26.

Mr McLachlan, from Kilsyth in North Lanarkshire, died in hospital on March 1, police confirmed on Tuesday.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: “Police Scotland can confirm that following a one-vehicle road traffic collision on the A9 south of Kincraig on February 26, the driver of the black Audi Q5 involved has died.

“He has been named as Robert McLachlan, 57, from Kilsyth.

“Mr McLachlan was taken to Raigmore Hospital after suffering a medical episode while driving. He died on Tuesday, 1 March.”
