The A9 has reopened after two crashes which left a woman in hospital and a car in flames in the Highlands.

The road was shut after a six-vehicle collision, two miles north of the Munlochy junction, on Monday morning.

A woman was taken to Raigmore Hospital in Inverness but her injuries are not thought to be life-threatening.

A short time later, a car caught fire two miles north of Tore after it collided with another vehicle.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: "Police advise that the A9 between the Munlochy junction and the Tore roundabout is open following an early road traffic collision involving six cars.

"One woman has been taken to Raigmore Hospital for treatment but is not thought to be seriously injured.

"Drivers are thanked for their patience during the delays."
