Aarons joins Motherwell

Newcastle winger Rolando Aarons had been linked with a move to Kilmarnock but Motherwell are the side that have sealed his signature. The 24-year-old has moved on loan until the end of the season.

Manager Stephen Robinson told the club website: “He will bring even more pace and energy to our front line and he will give us options across all of the three forward positions.”

“His arrival will also allow us to move Mikael Ndjoli into his more natural position as a central striker, instead of playing in wide positions.”

Kamberi and Docherty make loan switch

The deal that’s been bubbling away for a while is now confirmed. Greg Docherty goes from Rangers to Hibs on loan, with Florian Kamberi in the opposite direction.

There have been plenty of players linked with moves in or out of Hearts and there’s still the possibility of transfers before the deadline. There’s no sign of a move for Christophe Berra or Jamie Walker but Conor Washington could leave the club with Stoke reportedly interested.

Mamadou Thiam remains a target but Hearts are waiting on a response from Barnsley.

Rangers move for Florian Kamberi is a step closer to success after a loan deal from Hibs was agreed in principle. however, the deal may hinge on Hibs being able to sign a replacement forward.

Kamberi is heading to Glasgow to undergo a medical so it looks like this one is progressing.

Hibs manager Ross gives Kamberi, McNulty transfer updates

Hibernian manager Jack Ross has updated fans on the latest transfer activity at Easter Road.

A loan move for Swiss forward Florian Kamberi, who has been linked with a move to Rangers, remains possible with talks between the clubs ongoing.

And on McNulty, who spent the last season on loan at Hibs, Ross said it is still something they are exploring, but Martin Boyle won’t be leaving.

He said: “We’ve been keen to strengthen the squad in general, both in the numbers and the options we have, and McNulty’s amongst a number of players we’ve been trying to explore how strong the possibility is of getting him here.

“It’s not a particular easy window to do business in because there’s a chain involved in a lot of these possible deals.”

On Florian Kamberi he said: “I think that’s between the clubs at the moment.”

St Mirren forward Danny Mullen is set to complete a move to championship side Dundee.

The 24-year-old, who previously played for Livingston, has scored four goals in 21 games this season.

The former Barcelona, Real Madrid and Galatasaray midfielder played against Rangers in a 0-0 draw at Ibrox in 2000.

Steven Gerrard is still hoping for more transfer activity before the window slams shut but says he will only make move if the player fits the bill.

The Rangers manager says the club are doing “everything we can” to secure new recruits but also admits more players leaving before midnight remains a “possibility”.

Gerrard is eyeing a centre forward with the news that Jermain Defoe will miss five weeks “at best” after picking up an injury during Wednesday night’s win over Ross County.

He said: “One thing I will not do is bring someone in for the sake of it, I will only do it if they are one of our targets who I believe will help us in the short and long-term.

“Until I get a signature there is nothing to say except we are doing everything we can. At the moment we have one recognised number nine and we have a lot of fixtures in the next few weeks.”

Hibernian confirm signing of Paul McGinn from St Mirren

Hibernian have confirmed the signing of versatile 29-year-old Paul McGinn.

The defender, who plays predominantly as a right-back but can play anywhere across the back and in midfield, has joined from St Mirren for an undisclosed fee.

McGinn, brother of Aston Villa and Scotland John, who lifted the Scottish Cup with Hibs in 2016, has signed an 18-month deal at Easter Road.

Manager Alex Dyer said: “There’s no update on Stephen O’Donnell’s situation. There was an enquiry for him yesterday but I spoke to him and he wants to stay at the club.

“Hopefully it will be a busy day today and we can get two or three in. It’s going to be a long day.”
