Travis frontman Fran Healy caused an entire hotel to be evacuated after “burning toast” in the early hours of the morning.

The Why Does it Always Rain On Me singer was staying at the Kingsland Locke in East London when the incident took place on Wednesday.

In a post on X, formerly known as Twitter, Healy, from Glasgow, revealed he was making beans on toast at 5am when he set off the fire alarm.

The 51-year-old, who is preparing for the UK leg of the upcoming Travis tour that kicks off in Manchester on Friday, says the hotel incident is “possibly my most embarrassing moment in recent memory”.

Telling the story on the social media site, he said: “I was staying at Kingsland Locke Hotel in Dalston the last five days before this UK leg of this Travis Tour.

“The day I was checking out (yesterday) jetlag woke me at 5am so thought I would make some Beans on toast.

“Burnt the toast and set all the firearms off. Everyone in the whole hotel had to be evacuated.

“In the packed lobby, filled with a hundred or so bleary eyed, half dressed guests, I told them all it was I who had burned my toast and that I was very sorry.

“People were nice about it thankfully.

“It was mortifyingly embarrassing. Possibly my most embarrassing moment in recent memory.”

The Travis tour is coming to Glasgow later this month.

The band will play at the Hydro on their return to their home city on December 21.
