An island music festival is set to make its return this summer after extreme weather forced its cancellation last year.

Tiree Music Festival was cancelled just a day before the first act was due on stage in July 2023, after extreme weather battered the island.

Festivalgoers who took the ferry to the island were asked to make their way to Tiree’s An Talla community centre and more than 100 people had to shelter overnight.

People were offered shelter in the CalMac ferry terminal, which the company kept open throughout the night, while port staff arranged for the Royal Hotel Oban to bring duvets and pillows.

The organisers have announced its “determined” return, with the festival set to place from July 12 to 14.

It has also been confirmed that “93%” of the artists who were due to play last year are set to return alongside new additions.

Tide Lines and Skerryvore are among the bands who are set to return to the festival, alongside Ireland’s leading country singer Nathan Carter, who is a new addition to the line up.

Daniel Gillespie, artistic director for Tiree Music Festival, said: “It gives us a real sense of pride that we have been able to confirm so many artists due to play at last year’s festival for our 2024 edition.

“It’s great that we’ve been able to make the logistics work, honour these agreements and can show them, and our incredibly loyal audiences, what TMF is all about. We’re especially excited to welcome Nathan Carter as one of our headliners and just know he will get the Tiree crowds going!

“We’re determined that this year’s TMF will be an outstanding weekend and we are so grateful to everyone who has chosen to support the festival and join us back on Tiree this summer.”
