First teaser trailer for Super Mario Bros: The Movie released

The movie has a star-studded cast including Chris Pratt, Anya Taylor-Joy, Charlie Day and Jack Black.

The first teaser trailer for Super Mario Bros: The Movie has been released.

The star-studded cast includes Chris Pratt who brings Mario, the famous moustached plumber, to life.

The long-awaited trailer was released during a Nintendo Direct video presentation on Thursday.

Pratt is joined by Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, and Keegan-Michael Key as Toad.

The cast also includes Seth Rogen as Donkey Kong, Fred Armisen as Cranky Kong, Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek and Sebastian Maniscalco as Spike.

The trailer opens with Bowser in his massive, fiery castle as he descends on an ice kingdom. It later cuts to hero Mario who flies into the Mushroom Kingdom and encounters Toad.

Fans are given the first glimpse of Pratt’s Mario voice which he previously said is “unlike anything you’ve heard in the Mario world before.”

He told Variety: “I worked really closely with the directors and trying out a few things and landed on something that I’m really proud of and can’t wait for people to see and hear.”

The Super Mario Bros. Movie is directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic  with a screenplay from Matthew Fogel.

The film is produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and by Shigeru Miyamoto for Nintendo.
