Taylor Swift announces engagement to Travis Kelce

Taylor Swift has announced her engagement to American football star Travis Kelce.

Announcing the news in a joint Instagram post on Tuesday evening, the star said: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.”

The post was accompanied by photographs of the couple in a woodland setting, surrounded by a stunning pink and white floral display.

Another image showed the engagement ring, which is set on a gold band.

The couple’s engagement comes just days after the US superstar announced the title of her 12th studio album The Life of a Showgirl on Kelce’s podcast, which is co-hosted by his brother Jason Kelce.

The pair laughed and joked as they spoke on the podcast about their relationship, with Swift describing her partner as a “vibe booster”.

Two years ago Kelce stated on the podcast that he wanted to date Swift, after he failed to meet her when she performed at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Chiefs.

Swift said she considered it to be “a wild, romantic gesture” but joked he “didn’t do any proper logistical planning” to meet her at the Eras Tour show, such as get in touch with her management.

Instead, she revealed he thought his status on the team would allow him to go backstage to meet her.

Swift said: “Because he knows the elevator lady, he thought he could talk to her about just getting down to my dressing room. That’s how it works in 1973.”

The pair eventually began dating in 2023 and Kelce was often spotted in the crowd during her record-breaking Eras Tour, swapping friendship bracelets with fans and singing along.

In June 2024, Kelce appeared on stage with Swift during her performance of I Can Do It With A Broken Heart, dancing in a top hat and tails.
