T in the Park’s Slam Tent is set to make its return for the first time in five years.
The iconic dance tent, which hosted acts such as Daft Punk, Basement Jaxx and The Chemical Brothers at T in the Park during its 20 years, will form part of a new festival set to launch this summer held on the outskirts of Edinburgh.
The new festival, dubbed The Return of the Slam Tent, has been organised by Glasgow’s Slam Events and Edinburgh promoters FLY.
The three-day summer festival will take place in the original Slam Tent and will welcome crowds of 5000 in front of some of Scotland’s top DJs.
Stuart McMillan and Orde Meikle, from Slam Events, said: “Scotland’s clubbers are desperate to reunite and will finally come together again to celebrate freedom, unity and togetherness. It is that same feeling that existed in the early days of rave. We’re bringing it back. This will be very special!’
Tom Ketley, director of FLY added: “The Slam Tent was Scotland’s mecca of clubbing. As we are now finally looking forward to a return of dancefloors this summer, it seems like now is the right time to bring it back!”
Further details including location and line-up will be announced next week.
