A film based on the life of Scottish Tourette’s campaigner John Davidson has been nominated for five Bafta awards.
I Swear, starring Robert Aramayo, follows John’s journey with Tourette’s throughout his troubled teens and early adulthood.
The powerful true-life story was shot on location in Scotland, including in East Dunbartonshire, North Lanarkshire, and Glasgow.
I Swear has been shortlisted for Outstanding British Film, Original Screenplay, and Casting.
Robert Aramayo is the sole UK hopeful in the best actor category, while Peter Mullan is the only UK nominee for best supporting actor.
Die My Love, directed by Scottish filmmaker Lynne Ramsay, has also received a nomination in the Outstanding British Film category.
Nominations
Action thriller One Battle After Another dominates the Bafta nominations, with 14 nods, and is the frontrunner for a string of Oscars.
The film, directed by Paul Thomas Anderson, stars Leonardo DiCaprio as a washed-up revolutionary.
The film is just ahead of Sinners, which received 13 nominations, followed by Hamnet and Marty Supreme (11 each), then Frankenstein and Sentimental Value (eight each).
