Richard Ashcroft joins an array of stars as the latest headliner for Edinburgh’s new pop-up music venue.
The Verve frontman is set to perform at The Big Top at the Royal Highland Centre Showground on Friday, June 17.
The British icon sits alongside a host of music heavyweights such as Madness, Fatboy Slim, Snow Patrol, 50 Cent and Biffy Clyro who will all have their own headline shows this June.
Organisers said: “Playing on June 17 at The Big Top, Richard Ashcroft is a spectacular act not to be missed this summer.
“Best known as the lead vocalist and frontman of alternative rock band The Verve, Ashcroft proved himself the spiritual descendant of rock & roll icons like Mick Jagger and Jim Morrison.
“His powerful onstage presence, riveting charisma and incredible vocal prowess made him indeed one of the most important singers in the genre.
“Ashcroft has had a remarkable solo career, with three UK top three solo albums and the singer has described himself as ‘a natural rebel, here I am, but some of you won’t understand’ when speaking about his mesmerising fifth solo album which made headlines at the time of its launch.
“With Ashcroft’s latest album ‘Acoustic Hymns’ charting at number two on the UK album charts in October 2021 to huge critical acclaim, fans are in for a real treat.”
Tickers are due to go on sale from 10am on Friday, March 18.
