Paolo Nutini announces hometown show - how to get tickets for £3

The singer-songwriter will be giving away 1,000 tickets through a one-off competition.

Paolo Nutini has announced that he will be playing a one-off show in his hometown this summer.

The chart topper will be performing at Paisley Town Hall on August 6 following the end of European his tour.

Paisley’s A-listed Victorian town hall reopened last year after a five-year £22m refurbishment.

The transformation added state-of-the-art performance and back-of-house facilities such as new sound and lighting, retractable seating and lowered stage, and expanded the capacity in the main hall to more than 1,000.

How can you get tickets?

More than 1,000 tickets for Nutini’s show will be available to win as pairs.

Lucky winners will be selected after participating in a text-to-donate competition raising money for two charities.

The singer has chosen The STAR Project, an anti poverty community organisation based in Paisley, and Doctors Without Borders, for its work in Gaza and The West Bank.

All profits from the gig will be split evenly between the two charities.

Fans will be able to be in with a chance of winning the tickets through a £3 donation from 8am on Friday morning by texting ‘PAOLO’ to 84903.

The text will be charged at one standard rate message plus a voluntary donation of £3. The proceeds, after costs associated to the show, will be distributed evenly between the two charities.

The draw will be open until July 7, 11.59pm.

Paolo Nutini said: “We wanted to organise a show to try and raise as much money as we can for two very important causes.

“The first is one that is close to home… The STAR Project here in Paisley tackles poverty in many forms. They support the community in whatever way they need, be that financial support, mental health, homelessness, addiction, children in poverty and adults experiencing loneliness. Those who can’t afford to eat are fed through their community fridge and food service and they offer their community access to creative, cultural and playful opportunities.

“They treat people holistically and it doesn’t matter what age you are. If you need support, they are there to help. They’re about addressing social injustice and their work improves wellbeing, reduces isolation and tackles hunger.

“They are offering people vital help in their times of need. STAR Project is 25 years strong and have provided support within local communities, from generation to generation. This is why they need our donations to help them continue the amazing work they do.

“Secondly, we wanted to show our admiration and support for Doctors Without Borders who continue to dedicate their time and expertise to providing life saving-care and hope to the most vulnerable and risking their own lives in the process of meeting these immense needs.

“Watching the scenes of horror unfold in Gaza, seeing schools and hospitals turned to dust and innocent civilians left either dead or mutilated in the rubble of these attacks, has left me feeling powerless and almost hopeless. So many young children left starving and defenceless and just clinging onto life.

“As an effort of trying to help in the small way that we can, we announce this show in my hometown of Paisley to try and help contribute to raising these much needed funds for Doctors Without Borders so that they continue to do the breathtaking, and ever more critical work that they do.

“All profits raised from the show will be donated to both of these vital causes and donations will also be welcome on the evening.

“Thank you and please join us in our support and we’ll hopefully see you in Paisley.

“Ceasefire Now!”

Chief Executive of STAR Project, Sharon McAulay said: “We are beyond thrilled that Paolo is supporting STAR Project and our ongoing efforts to tackle the impact of poverty. Our community often feel unseen and unheard, Paolo’s generosity will help alleviate this and we just can’t thank him and his team enough.”

Dr. Natalie Roberts, Executive Director of MSF/Doctors Without Borders said: “On behalf of our patients, we offer our sincere gratitude to Paolo for generously supporting the vital medical work of Médecins Sans Frontières/Doctors Without Borders (MSF).

“The funds raised will significantly bolster our crisis response efforts, including towards the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza. His support is vital in helping us shine a light on some of the world’s most vulnerable people.”
