A woman has died and eight others have been injured following a stampede at a concert in the US on Sunday night.
People in the audience were reportedly pushed towards the exits during a gig in the state of New York amid fears that shots had been fired.
Audience members were in the city of Rochester to see rappers GloRilla and Finesse2tymes when the incident happened.
Rochester Police lieutenant Nicholas Adams told ABC News the force found “no evidence to support a shooting having occurred”.
The officer said police arrived at the scene at around 11pm but added that the injuries were not consistent with gunshot wounds.
He said: “The injuries appear to be as a result of a large crowd pushing towards the exits following accounts of individuals hearing what they believed to be gunshots.”
The concert, held in the Main Street Armory, led to the death of a 33-year-old woman and has left two people in hospital in critical condition, police said.
Six others were dropped off at nearby hospitals with non-life-threatening injuries, local newspaper Democrat & Chronicle reported.
