Mourners have lined the streets to pay their respects to Scottish comedy great Eddie Large who died after contracting coronavirus earlier this month.

Members of the public followed social distancing guidelines to applaud as the hearse carrying the comedian’s coffin drove down Portishead High Street to South Bristol Crematorium.

A large spray of flowers – in white and blue in a nod to his love of Manchester City FC – adorned his coffin.

Syd Little – Eddie’s sidekick for more than half a century – was pictured alongside his wife Sheree paying his respects to his comedy partner.

They were among just ten family and close friends allowed to attend the service due to the Covid-19 outbreak.

The pair went on to win Opportunity Knocks and appeared regularly on TV for the next 20 years.

Their prime-time BBC One series The Little And Large Show attracted audiences of almost 15 million before it was axed in 1991.

In 2010, Large, who was famous for interrupting his co-star, revealed he had not spoken to Little for some time.
