Lorraine Kelly has told fans that she will be having her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed after “not feeling all that well for a little while”.

The presenter took to social media on Saturday to share with followers that she was undergoing a “wee procedure”.

Speaking from her hospital bed, the 65-year-old said scans and tests had led to her being taken in for “preventative” keyhole surgery.

She said: “I’ve not been feeling all that well for a little while.

“So I had some scans and tests and I have to have my ovaries and my tubes taken out. It’s purely preventative.

“It’s going to be with keyhole surgery, which is incredible. I’ve been very well looked after, and I’ll see you really soon, and I’m going to be totally fine.”

A number of celebrities have shared their well wishes with Lorraine including Katie Piper, Adele Roberts and Susanna Reid.

The surgery is known as a laparoscopic salpingo-oophorectomy where three or four small incisions are made to the abdomen.

Most patients are able to return home the same day and are recommended to stay off work for two to four weeks.
