Jean Johansson and Grado among stars on STV's Hogmanay show

Bringing In The Bells will see a host of celebrities talking about the best moments of 2022.

Lorraine Kelly, Jean Johansson, sporting royalty and ‘the other Murray brother’ will lead the line-up on this year’s STV Hogmanay show.

Bringing In The Bells will see five pairs of Scottish celebs poring over all the best events of the last 12 months and looking ahead to 2023.

Johansson and Grado, Liz and Eilish McColgan, Judy Murray and Chris Forbes, Sanjeev Kohli and Jane McCarry, and STV’s Sean Batty and Laura Boyd will be throwing on their gladrags to celebrate their favourite 2022 moments as narrator Kelly presides over all the action.

The programme was filmed in some of Scotland’s country homes and features big names chatting through the best telly moments, sporting glories, celebrity gossip, and major news stories of 2022.

The celebrations will conclude with the customary Auld Lang Syne singalong as the clock strikes midnight.

Leading the stellar line-up is the unlikely pairing of broadcaster Johansson and wrestler/actor Grado, who are joining each other for a Hogmanay knees-up for a second year after their appearance in 2021’s programme.

Jean said: “How has it been a whole year since Grado and I giggled our way through STV’s last Hogmanay show?

“This year has been another crazy one, with so many interesting moments both personally and in the world of news, so I’m excited to be taking stock of it all over a glass of fizz with one of the funniest men on telly once again.”

Grado added: “What better way to see in the New Year than in a posh hoose with a wee dram and her aff A Place in the Sun?!

“I’ve known Jean for years and we always have such a laugh when we get together. Last year’s show was a hoot so when STV asked me to bring in the bells with Jean again, it was an absolute no-brainer.”

Scottish sporting royalty, mother and daughter running duo Liz and Eilish McColgan, will be reflecting on a triumphant 2022, which saw Eilish claim the first major title of her career with a gold medal win in the 10,000m at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.

Another new pairing for 2022 is tennis doyenne Murray and ‘the other Murray brother’, Duncan Murray – also known as comedian Forbes.

Their stage show – which sees Forbes play the black sheep of the Murray family – was a huge hit at this year’s Edinburgh Fringe.

Elsewhere, Kohli will reunite with his Still Game co-star McCarry, and weather presenter Batty will be toasting the New Year alongside STV colleague Boyd, who is also celebrating a successful 2022 after being crowned Scottish Influencer of the Year in October.

Breakfast telly queen Kelly will be staying up past her bedtime to voice the programme and keep the celebrities in check.

What else is on?

Bringing in the Bells is just one part of the line-up of Hogmanay entertainment on STV.

The evening kicks off with The National Lottery’s New Year’s Eve Big Bash at 8.30pm.

Hosted by Jason Manford and Alesha Dixon, the show will bring lottery players together to see unique performances and one-off collaborations from the likes of Tom Grennan, Adam Lambert, Joel Corry, RAYE, Katherine Jenkins and Cirque du Soleil.

At 10.35pm, John Bishop’s End of Year Show takes an irreverent look back at 2022 as Sir Ian McKellen and the England women’s footballer Beth Mead appear alongside other special guests.

Continuing the festivities after the bells is Jonathan Ross’ New Year Comedy Special, featuring a star-studded evening of stand-up comedy.
