Lorraine Kelly has told fans she has returned home from hospital after having her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed during surgery.
The presenter took to social media on Saturday to share with followers that she was undergoing a “wee procedure”.
Speaking from her hospital bed, the 65-year-old said scans and tests had led to her being taken in for “preventative” keyhole surgery.
On Sunday, Lorraine issued an update that she had returned home from hospital and is resting on doctor’s orders.
She thanked the medical staff at Heatherwood Hospital in Ascot for their support and care.
A number of celebrities shared their well wishes with Lorraine including Katie Piper, Adele Roberts and Susanna Reid.
The surgery is known as a laparoscopic salpingo-oophorectomy and involves three or four small incisions to the abdomen.
Most patients are able to return home the same day and are recommended to stay off work for two to four weeks.
She posted on Instagram: “Huge thanks to these kind, caring, gorgeous professionals who took care of me at Heatherwood Hospital.
“Back home now and following doctors orders to rest up – my surgeon Mr Ahmed Rafaat has been so reassuring throughout – and I can’t thank the whole team enough.”
