Lewis Capaldi releases new single Pointless written with friend Ed Sheeran from second album STV News

Lewis Capaldi has released a new single, titled Pointless, from his upcoming second album.

The singer’s debut album, Divinely Inspired to a Hellish Extent, was released three years ago and was given certified triple platinum status as the best-selling album in the UK in 2019 and 2020.

His second, follow-up album is due to come out on May 19, 2023.

On Friday, the 26-year-old released Pointless, which was co-written with his friend, Ed Sheeran.

“Ed had that lyric, ‘I bring her coffee in the morning, she brings me inner peace’. And pretty much every other line of that opening was just banging,” Capaldi said of the new song.

“I don’t want to create a new sound for myself, or reinvent myself. The songs I want to write are emotional songs, about love or loss.”

Capaldi released another single on next year’s album, called Forget Me back in September this year.

The track included a music video which recreated Wham!’s Club Tropicana song.
