Jessie J details some of the “honest lows and highs” of her surgical procedure and recovery on her Instagram

Jessie J has undergone surgery for breast cancer and is now home and waiting for her results.

The singer announced the news on her Instagram, showing the “good and hard bits” of her journey.

In one video, Jessie is lying in a hospital gown singing, “We’ve now been at the hospital for six and a half hours and I’m still waiting to go down to the theatre.”

In other videos, she shows herself soon after the operation and in pain, being comforted by her boyfriend Chanan Colman. She also includes photos of their son, Sky Safir Cornish Colman, visiting her in the hospital and cheekily posing for the camera.

Writing on Instagram, Jessie thanked the medical professionals who took care of her and said she is now at home.

“This post is some of the honest lows and highs of the last 48 hours.

“I will always show the good and hard bits of any journey I go through.

“Grateful to my doctor / surgeon and all the nurses who cared for me and all my family / friends who came to visit.

“I am home now, to rest and wait for my results.”

In early June, the singer told fans she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and was awaiting surgery.

The Price Tag singer also used Instagram to announce her diagnosis.

“I was diagnosed with early breast cancer,” she said.

“Cancer sucks in any form, but I’m holding on to the word ‘early’.”

Her last show prior to the surgery was Capital’s Summertime Ball on June 15, where she gave an emotional speech.

“Summertime Ball, today this show is my last show before I go and beat breast cancer.”

She said: “I feel so proud to be feeling OK, to be this honest person where you say what you feel, and this being my last show before I go and have surgery.”

Jessie, whose full name is Jessica Cornish, said she announced her diagnosis publicly to help her process the news, and to show solidarity with others who are going through a similar experience.

She said: “I know how much sharing in the past has helped me with other people giving me their love and support and also their own stories. I’m an open book.

“It breaks my heart that so many people are going through so much similar and worse—that’s the bit that kills me.”

Jessie has suffered from ill health throughout her life, having been diagnosed with a heart condition at eight years old, having a minor stroke aged 18, and briefly going deaf in 2020.

The London-born singer welcomed her son Sky in 2023, having miscarried in November 2021.

The NHS advises women to see their GP if they have any abnormal changes in the breasts or nipples, a lump or swelling in the breast, chest or armpit, or a pain in the breast or armpit that does not go away.

Other symptoms include a change in the appearance of the skin of the breast, such as dimpling or redness, a change in breast size or shape, nipple discharge, and a change in the shape or look of your nipple.
