Gogglebox has unveiled its first Scottish cast members in six years after Channel 4 announced a dedicated fund for the search.
Glasgow-based couple Roisin, 23, and Joe, 25, will make their debut on the hit show on Friday night.
It comes after Channel 4 announced a dedicated casting team to find Scots to star in the TV series, after facing scrutiny during a Scottish Affairs Committee session in November.
During the evidence session, MPs discussed a number of issues including privatisation, Channel 4’s presence in Scotland and the impact Covid-19 has had on its production companies.
Scottish Conservative leader Douglas Ross told Channel 4 bosses there had not been a Scottish family on the programme since 2016.
Following the meeting, the Channel 4 chief executive, Alex Mahon, wrote to MPs to confirm the broadcaster had agreed a separate budget for a dedicated casting team to find Scottish cast members to appear on the show.
In a statement released on their website, Channel 4 said: “Joe is 25 and Roisin is 23. They are a couple who have been together for four years and live at Joe’s family home in Glasgow, having moved in together at the beginning of lockdown.
“Roisin loves shopping, getting dressed up and socialising with friends. Joe loves playing video games, pizza making and spending time with Roisin.
“Roisin and Joe will be seen for the first time on tonight’s Gogglebox at 9pm on Channel 4 where Britain’s sharpest armchair critics have been watching Love Is Blind, Starstruck, Cheaters, Celebrity Help! My House is Haunted, Bradley & Barney Walsh: Breaking Dad, Teen First Dates, Sunday Morning and BBC News.”
