GlasGLOW is set to return to Glasgow’s Botanic Gardens for a fourth year.

Organisers itison say they have invested a “seven figure sum” into the annual Halloween event, creating 150 jobs and “generating millions” for the local economy.

This year’s show will focus on the global climate crisis, ahead of climate conference COP26 being held in the city in November.

Guests will enter the fictional world of Glasglopolis, a sprawling metropolis under attack from a terrifying toxic gloop.

Playing the role of an undercover reporter, each guest will go on a journey to expose the truth and save the city’s annual pumpkin festival.

Oli Norman, CEO of itison and GlasGLOW creator, said: “The past 18 months have been incredibly tough for everyone, that’s why we believe now more than ever in incredible experiences to enjoy together.

“In October 2020 we managed to put on GlasGLOW for over 90,000 event goers making it Scotland’s largest outdoor activity. The odds were stacked heavily against us, but we brought light to the dark winter months.

“Now, with COP26 coming to Glasgow and the eyes of the world on our home city, we’ve created a brand-new spectacular for locals and visitors alike, one that reflects our response to the climate crisis in a fun and engaging way.

“I can’t give too much away, but we’ll be counting on you to help uncover the source of the toxic gloop and save our city!”

The itison Pumpkin Fund will return for 2021, a community engagement initiative which will see thousands of tickets donated to families in need.

Itison will also help fund a local capital project supporting youngsters, sustainability and helping to educate people on the climate crisis.

The event will run from October 27 to November 7 and tickets go on sale August 25 from the GlasGLOW website.
