Former Scotland boss Craig Levein brands STV Radio Football Takeover host Ewen Cameron 'a babbling fool'

Former Scotland boss Craig Levein has branded STV Radio presenter Ewen Cameron “a babbling fool”.

Levein aimed the cutting jibe at the presenter while he appeared as the first guest in his new show, The STV Radio Football Takeover.

Joined by Ronnie Charters and Callum Bell, the first episode will air on STV, STV Player and YouTube at 7pm on Friday, July 31.

In the episode, the ex-Hearts and St Johnstone manager was invited to suggest the first topic to be debated on air by Takeover presenters Ewen, Ronnie and Callum.

But rather than opening a discussion on Scotland’s World Cup journey or Rangers’ new era under McInnes, Levein posed the question: Is Ewen Cameron a force for good in Scottish football?

He adds: “I’ve got my own views on that, of course, and I’ll share them with you just now – I think he’s a babbling fool, that’s what he is.

“Suffice to say, if there was a poster boy for the hard of thinking, it sure would be Ewen Cameron. That’s for certain, absolutely certain.”

Levein continued: “I don’t think this show will be a success if Ewen’s involved in it at all, to be honest with you.

“But anyway, I think everybody deserves an opportunity. We’ll see how it goes.”

Airing every Friday at 7pm on STV, STV Player and YouTube, The STV Radio Football Takeover will get Scottish football fans fired up for the weekend ahead, as the team preview all the biggest matches and share their opinions on the funniest and most dramatic moments of the week gone by.

The commission of The STV Radio Football Takeover follows the success of STV’s first visual podcast, The STV Radio Football Show, which launched in October 2025.

The podcast, which was nominated at the inaugural Scottish Podcast Awards earlier this year, has since received over 24 million social video views and staged a sold-out live event at Glasgow’s Òran Mór in May.
