The first picture of Nick Frost in costume as Hagrid for the HBO TV adaptation of Harry Potter has been revealed.
Frost was cast as the beloved Rubeus Hagrid, who was previously played by Scottish actor Robbie Coltrane.
The new series, based on JK Rowling’s bestselling novels, will be a decade-long project and is expected to debut on HBO and HBO Max in 2027.

Frost was announced as part of the cast in April alongside John Lithgow, who will be playing Dumbledore.
Frost wrote on Instagram: “Thank you for trusting me with such a loyal, gentle and courageous half-giant like Rubeus Hagrid. Robbie, I promise I won’t let you down.”
Warner Bros previously released a first look at Scots actor Dominic McLaughlin in costume as he prepares to play Harry Potter’s titular role.

Production of the adaptation is set to begin this week at Warner Bros Studios in Leavesden.
The show will also feature Arabella Stanton as Hermione Granger, and Alastair Stout as Ron Weasley.

HBO confirmed several new roles being cast, including Rory Wilmot as Neville Longbottom, Amos Kitson as Dudley Dursley, Louise Brealey as Madam Rolanda Hooch, and Anton Lesser as wandmaker Garrick Ollivander.
