The Glasgow-born 94-year-old will be honoured for an Outstanding Contribution to film and TV.

Entertainment legend Stanley Baxter is to receive a special award from BAFTA Scotland.

The 94-year-old actor and comedian will be honoured for an Outstanding Contribution to Film and Television.

Glasgow-born Baxter has starred in a host of television shows since the 1950s and also featured on the stage and the silver screen.

Jude MacLaverty, director of BAFTA Scotland, said: “Stanley Baxter is one of the true creative geniuses in British television light entertainment, who combined superbly observed, written and performed comedy in a truly unique and unforgettable style.”

Film and TV editor Phyllis Ironside will also receive an Outstanding Contribution award for Craft.

Ms MacLaverty said: “Phyllis Ironside is a highly respected member of the industry in Scotland, renowned for her editing skills as well as her integrity with her CV reflecting the best of programming making in Scotland.”
