This year’s Oscar nominations were delayed twice because of the wildfires in southern California, with the organisers of several US awards ceremonies hosting more subdued events in light of the devastation.

The hosts of the nomination announcements, Bowen Yang and Rachel Sennott, paid tribute to California’s firefighters at the start of the ceremony.

The 97th Academy Awards, hosted by comedian and talk show host Conan O’Brien, will take place at the Dolby Theatre at Ovation Hollywood in Los Angeles Sunday, March 2.

The event will be broadcast on STV and STV Player, with Jonathan Ross set to return as host.
