Edinburgh's Hogmanay celebrations will be live streamed around the world this year for the first time.

The event will be streamed on Facebook and edinburghshogmanay.co.uk from 7.30pm on December 31 until 1am on New Year's Day.

The live broadcast will include the street party hosted by Johnnie Walker and The Mac Twins, with excerpts from Mark Ronson's performance in Princes Street Gardens, the countdown and midnight fireworks as revellers bring in 2020.

Anyone with a phone, tablet, laptop or computer will be able to watch famous celebrations from anywhere in the world.

Entertaining the crowd will be a host of top artistic and musical acts including Rudimental, Idlewild, The Snuts and Ronson, who will headline the night with exclusive new music for the occasion.

Ronson will be the first DJ to headline the concert in the gardens and has created a soundtrack especially to bring in the bells.

Love Island's The Mac Twins will roam around the arena capturing songs from the acts, the best of the street theatre, celebrity chats and meeting the audience as they get involved and sing their hearts out.

The five-and-a-half hour street party, directed by Bradley Hemmings, will take place on Princes Street.

Singer-songwriter Marc Almond will headline the Waverley Stage with a selection of his greatest hits.

Opening for Marc is Keir Gibson, a young singer from Fort William.

Charlie Wood and Ed Bartlam, directors of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, said: “Up until now only viewers in Scotland have had a chance to see much of Edinburgh’s Hogmanay, beyond news coverage.

"This year, no matter where you are in the world, you will be able to tune in and become immersed in the fantastic atmosphere of the Street Party.

"We’re truly excited to be offering this new opportunity to fans of Scotland and New Year around the world and celebrating Scotland’s global cultural identity and position as the home of Hogmanay.”
