Celebrity Traitors star Ruth Codd reveals she had her second leg amputated

The second leg was amputated six years after losing her right leg.

Celebrity Traitors star Ruth Codd has revealed she has had her left leg amputated below the knee, six years after losing her right leg.

The 29-year-old actress injured her leg playing football at 15, but it never healed properly, leading to multiple surgeries and chronic pain.

On Wednesday, Codd told fans on TikTok that she has now had the same operation on her left leg, delivering the update with her usual humour.

She said: “Hi guys. So, I have some good news and some bad news.

“Good news, we’ve had a full circle moment. I’m back making TikTok content in my parents’ house. Bad news, I can’t do it in front of that lovely blue floral wallpaper any more, due to the fact that that room is upstairs.

“I’ve just had my second below-knee amputation. So, unfortunately, those facilities are not available to me at the current moment in time. So a lot to unpack there for everyone involved.”

Although Ruth did not explain why she needed the operation, she showed off her new wheelchair, which she has named “Fat Tony”.

“This is my new whip,” she joked.

“I like to call her Fat Tony. She has the top speed of f*** all, especially if there’s a step involved.”

In the caption, she added: “No legs who dis? #paralympics2026″.

Ruth appeared in the first series of the hit show earlier this year, but became the third contestant to be “murdered” by the Traitors in episode four.

She was eliminated after correctly naming Jonathan Ross as a Traitor at the roundtable, prompting him and his fellow Traitors, Alan Carr and Cat Burns, to kill her off.

Reflecting on her time in the Traitors’ castle during the series, she said: “I mean … to say it’s been surreal … I’m not sure that I’m not about to be woken up from a very weird dream.”

Carr went on to win the first series of the BBC reality gameshow, fooling faithfuls, TV historian David Olusoga and actor Nick Mohammed, and winning £87,500 for his charity Neuroblastoma UK, which aims to fund research and raise awareness of the rare cancer.

As an actress, Codd has starred in Netflix mystery thriller series The Midnight Club and the streaming platform’s horror mini-series The Fall Of The House Of Usher.

Ruth first found fame on TikTok during the Covid pandemic, posting comedy sketches and videos highlighting disability awareness.
