Nile Rodgers & Chic and Emeli Sande will headline next year’s Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival.

Grammy Award-winning Rodgers, who is now the newly-elected chairman of the Songwriters Hall of Fame, generated chart-topping hits like Le Freak and sparked the advent of hip-hop with Good Times.

He was appointed the first ever chief creative advisor for the legendary Abbey Road Studios and his work with The Chic Organization and his productions for artists like David Bowie, Diana Ross, and Madonna have sold over 500 million albums and 75 million singles worldwide.

Aberdonian Sande, who has topped the charts three times and sold over six million albums, first played at Belladrum in 2011 before her epic performances at the opening and closing ceremonies of the London Olympics the following year.

She then went on to sing for Barack Obama at the White House.

Dougie Brown, event producer, said: “We are delighted to announce Nile Rodgers & Chic and Emeli Sande as our first headliners for Belladrum 2020.

“Nile Rodgers & Chic have been at the top of our wish list for many years and we are certain their set will go down as one of Bella’s standout moments.

“Emeli Sande played the festival’s Grassroots tent in 2011 when she was starting out and to have seen the journey she has been on and to see her come back and headline the festival’s Thursday night will be another special moment at Bella.”

The 17th outing of the festival will once again take place within Belladrum Estate near Beauly, Inverness-shire.

Britpop legends Shed Seven are also on the bill, along with Passenger, Stiff Little Fingers, Tide Lines, The Magic Numbers, Billie Marten, Colonel Mustard & The Dijon Five, Ibibio Sound Machine, Manran, Kyle Falconer, The Kinaris Quintet, I See Rivers, Rhythmnreel, James Mackenzie, The Dangleberries, Esperanza, The Roov, the Calum MacPhail Trio, Tweed, Shiehallion, Journey North and Fun Box.

Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival will take place between July 30 and August 1, 2020.

Tickets for the 2020 event sold out for the 12th consecutive year in a record-breaking 72 hours.
