Glasgow is set to be transformed into Gotham City, as shooting for the latest Batman movie gets under way.

The Batman, starring Robert Pattinson, is currently filming in London and is set to arrive in Glasgow next month.

Parts of the city will be transformed to look like Bruce Wayne’s fictional home and movie fans will also get the opportunity to see the new Batmobile.

The film will also star Colin Farrell as The Penguin, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler and Andy Serkis as Bruce Wayne’s butler Alfred Pennyworth.

A source told the Daily Record: “Glasgow will be turned into Gotham City and, with the city’s architecture, it’s expected to look great in the new film.

“It will also be the first time for DC fans to see the new Batmobile so there will be lots of them prepared to stand in the rain hoping they can spot it.

“Anyone who sees the Batmobile around town will probably look twice.”

A spokesperson for Screen Scotland said: “Screen Scotland provides a confidential locations service to film and TV productions looking to film in Scotland.  This means we are unable to comment on discussions about specific productions.”
