Production on the blockbuster HBO movie has begun as Glasgow prepares to double up as Gotham city.

A number of roads in Glasgow city centre are being closed this month as film crews descend on the city for the upcoming Batgirl movie.

HBO film The Batgirl is set for a 2022 release, and will see Leslie Grace play the title role, while Hollywood star Michael Keaton is set to reprise his role as Batman in the film.

Glasgow will be revamped to look like Gotham City once again, after previously getting used to shoot scenes for the upcoming The Batman, The Flash and Indiana Jones movies.

The first host of road closures kicked in on Tuesday and will run until January 25.

Here’s a guide to what roads will be closed during the blockbuster production.

From Tuesday, January 4 to, Tuesday, January 25: Parnie Street/Hutchison Street.
Parking bay suspensions will affect Bell St, Walls St, High St and Albion St.

From 9:30am to 4pm on Tuesday, January 11: Closure between West Nile Street and Hope Street. Renfield Street will be closed between West George Street and Gordon Street.

Between 12:01 and 6 am on January 13/14: High Street and Saltmarket will be shut down. Bell Street and Clyde Street. There will be no access between Candleriggs and Watson Street at London Road.

Between 12:01 and 6 am on January 21/22: Saltmarket will be closed overnight between Clyde Street and Glasgow Cross.
